Meet our amazing trainers
A qualified Counsellor, Linda delivers EHM Training Academy’s Introduction to Counselling course.
An avid learner Linda holds a PgD in Person Centred Counselling, a certificate in relationship and CBT counselling, and an accreditation in addiction counselling.
Focused on providing people with the tools and knowledge for self-development, Linda currently works as a college and university Counsellor, a volunteer Counsellor with EHM, and has her own private practice.
When not working, Linda enjoys spending time with her family, art, and all kinds of crafting.
A practising CBT Counsellor, Margaret joined EHM Training Academy in summer 2016.
Drawing on over 25 years experience working in education, Margaret has delivered a wide variety of training on health and wellbeing to delegates of all ages and is passionate about trying to remove the stigma attached to poor mental health.
Having established a daily mindfulness practice, Margaret has trained in Youth Mindfulness and currently delivers our Mindfulness for Wellbeing, Managing Anxiety and Assertiveness courses.
When not working in her private practice supporting young people and adults experiencing distress, Margaret enjoys reading, gardening and Tai Chi.
Prior to joining EHM Training in 2018 as a qualified Trainer, Julie worked with in Falkirk’s Association of Mental Health for 7 years and within the Mental Health sector generally for over 20 years.
Julie is experienced in writing, developing and delivering a wide range of psycho-educational group work activities and training courses within Educational environments and the statutory, private and public sector.
Julie also has experience of working with children and adults with challenging learning needs or are experiencing barriers to learning and can adapt her teaching techniques to ensure a fully inclusive learning environment. Julie will be delivering our SQA qualifications in 2020 and is also going to be EHM Trainings Verifier for our centre.
Julie enjoys a range of creative activities, such as the Visual Arts and Drama and can fully utilise these creative techniques within her workshops. In her own time, Julie is a keen gardener.
Lisa is a multi-tasking member of the EHM team, she is our Administration and Finance Coordinator and also delivers our amazing Seasons For Growth Children’s course. Lisa has previously worked in Falkirk’s Association of Mental Health and has developed an in-depth knowledge of mental health and wellbeing and is extremely passionate about early intervention prevention training.
As a mother of two girls and soon to be baby boy, her heart lies with our school programme, so much so she became a trainer in 2017 and can deliver Seasons For Growth in schools and the community. This life changing course deals with issues of loss and grief and can help children make sense of what has happened to them from bereavements to family breakdowns.
Lisa is also our SQA Centre Coordinator and Assessor so enjoys being busy! In her spare time she loves nothing more than spending precious family time with her partner and children, she will be on maternity leave from December so we can’t wait to meet the youngest addition to our close knit team in January 2020, exciting times!
An experienced trainer and educator with over 20 years’ experience as a Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing at the University of the West of Scotland, Michael joined EHM Training Academy in summer 2016.
Currently working as a Mental Health Mentor and Study Skills Support with Napier University, Michael draws on both his academic and practical knowledge when delivering training.
Michael delivers a range of courses for EHM Training Academy including Keeping Yourself Mentally Well, Understanding Self-harm, Understanding Eating Disorders and Boundaries, to name a few.
When not working, Michael often uses his skills in a volunteering capacity, having spent two lengthy periods volunteering in a large mental health hospital in West Africa. His interests include theatre, music, cinema and sport.
A fully qualified trainer, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, and Motivational Interviewing Coach, Elaine joined EHM Training Academy in 2017.
Elaine is experienced in delivering practice development and psycho-educational group work activities to individuals of various age groups from different backgrounds, for both the public and private sector.
A volunteer counsellor with EHM, Elaine also currently works in the addictions and substance misuse field, whilst running her own private counselling practice. In her free time, Elaine enjoys cinema, musical theatre and listening to music.
Wendy’s passion for understanding mental health and working in the mental health sector stems from her childhood experiences of watching how people’s attitudes and behaviours differed towards her parents.
Wendy’s mother had long and enduring poor mental health issues and her father had poor physical health. These questions from childhood fired her enthusiasm to learn more about mental health and she set out in her early adult years to do just that.
Now an experienced accredited counsellor and trainer Wendy helps others to understand what mental health is and how we as a community can support each other when we experience poor mental health.
Wendy is an approved trainer delivering the safe TALK [listening out for talk of suicide], ASIST [Applied suicide intervention skills training] and SMHFA [Scottish mental health first aid] training for both EHM Training and the NHS.
She is a qualified Counsellor delivering the COSCA certificated counselling skills course and runs her own her private counselling practice from her 17th century home in Auchtermuchty Fife.
Christine is a qualified and experienced lecturer and SMHFA instructor having worked in the education management and training sector for over 20 years.
Christine currently trains directors, managers, staff and students in their workplace and universities in Mental Health First Aid.
Her other specialisms include Teacher Training, English as a Second Language, and Tourism, having been professionally published in the latter two subject areas.
Christine has presented at many conferences and seminars throughout the UK, Europe and Asia including the raising of awareness of mental health.
